ECoC & AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT
Yes, we do have previous experiences with audience development in the context of European Capitals of Culture.
We are proud to let you know that we have designed and implemented the first ever stand-alone capacity building programme with audience development in the core for ECoC for Wrocław 2016.
We started our cooperation with Wrocław 2016 in 2014, conducted two full-size programmes one in 2015 and second in 2016 and…and this cooperation has been continuing to this day in a different capacity but always with audiences and accessibility at the heart.
We also worked with Rijeka 2020. We were invited to join their Classroom Programme. We were a part of “Applause, please!” as trainers and mentors and were working there for almost two years as a part of a team of experts from all around Europe. Programme concluded in the autumn of 2019.
Rijeka 2020 - the company managing the ECoC - was one of our mentees and we were supporting them in the creation of an audience development strategy with a plan for strengthening the accessibility of culture venues and events in the city.
Since 2018 we have been working with Kaunas 2022. We’ve done a lot together! We have designed and coordinated year-long capacity building programmes for culture professionals together with a few dozens of graduates. Hundreds of culture professionals from Kaunas, Lithuania and all over Europe have participated in various activities, including workshops, lectures, and meetings. In 2020 the sole focus of the programme was on accessibility and given the circumstances it was completely conducted in an on-line format. In 2021 we worked in a hybrid version with most activities taking place on Zoom and some live in Kaunas.
We’ve also been working with candidate cities. One of them being Trenčín 2026. Apart from delivering workshops on audience development and accessibility, we have also created the first bid book in Easy-To-Read format. Making all events accessible to all is a high priority for the Trenčín 2026 candidacy team. We are immensely excited about this cooperation and very proud to be part of this journey!

IMPACT & EUROPEAN CAPITALS OF CULTURE INITIATIVE
Our involvement with ECoCs goes beyond audience development.
Between us we have nearly fifty years worth of experience working with European Capitals of Culture and culture policies in the cities all over Europe.
All of the above gave us a good insight into ECoC initiative - we are aware not only of the benefits of getting into the ECoC process and/or holding the title but also of the “backstage” struggles. If we can be of any help to you - contact us (let us know)!

KEEP CALM & ECoC
We don’t necessarily know better than you and your team, but we might have a different perspective, and we are here to help. That’s why we have developed a mentoring programme. It goes beyond “consultancy as usual” focusing on supporting people responsible for leading the processes, people behind the ECoCs. We work with PEOPLE! Meaning = we support specific individuals behind every team or process. That’s why we work as mentors.
We support those who are involved:
